This piece is from a wonderful collection of jewellery by Canadian greats Walter Schluep and Hans Gehrig purchased directly from their ateliers in the 1970s & 80s.
The pieces collectively show Schluep and Gehrig’s great range in style and techniques, and many stand as marvellous little sculptures in their own right. They’re all exquisitely well made.
This pendant is extraordinarily large in scale, so please do have a look at the final image in to see what it looks like in hand.
The stone is cracked, but is tight and secure in its setting. See all photos. The chain pictured in photo 2 is not included.
