Detailed information on Laurel & Flame Tsabidolia — Rare Single-Varietal Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Ancient Olympia · Ultra-High Polyphenols · Limited Harvest

Among the rarest olive oils in Greece, this exceptional expression is crafted from the indigenous Tsabidolia olive — a variety found only in the hills of Ancient Olympia.

Once nearly lost due to its sensitivity to heat and demanding growing conditions, Tsabidolia has been carefully preserved and revived by a fourth-generation olive-growing family. Today, it produces one of the most distinctive and high-phenolic olive oils in the world.

Bold, complex, and intensely aromatic, this oil stands apart not only for its rarity, but for the depth of character it brings to every drop.

Award-Winning Excellence

Recognized at the highest level, this oil was named Best Olive Oil in Greece at the Athena International Olive Oil Competition, selected from more than 390 entries.

Multiple international awards across recent harvests further confirm its place among the world’s finest extra virgin olive oils.

What Makes It Exceptional

  • Rare Tsabidolia variety: grown exclusively in Ancient Olympia

  • Ultra-high polyphenols: 856 mg/kg — nearly 5× the European health claim threshold*

  • Certified organic cultivation

  • Single origin, single varietal — complete purity of expression

  • Revived heritage variety: preserved by the producing family after near disappearance

  • Limited production: driven by nature, not scale

  • Fully traceable via QR code: from grove to bottle

Taste Profile

  • Aroma: intensely green, with notes of wild herbs and fresh olive fruit

  • Taste: bold, structured, deeply layered

  • Finish: long, persistent peppery finish — a signature of its extraordinary phenolic content

This is an olive oil with presence — one that defines a dish rather than simply accompanying it.

How to Enjoy

Best used raw to fully appreciate its complexity and character.

  • Drizzle over vegetables, salads, and legumes

  • Finish grilled fish or meats

  • Pair with fresh bread

  • Elevate simple dishes where the oil becomes the centerpiece

A small amount goes a long way.

Origin & Production

  • Varietal: Tsabidolia (rare indigenous variety)

  • Origin: Ancient Olympia, Greece

  • Farming: Certified Organic

This is true single-origin production: the groves, mill, and bottling facility are all located in immediate proximity and operated by the same family.

Olives are harvested and pressed within hours, with no added water during extraction, preserving both flavor and nutritional compounds.

Quality Metrics

  • Polyphenols: 856 mg/kg

  • Acidity: 0.18%

  • Peroxide value: 6.3 meq O₂/kg

These values reflect both the health of the fruit and the precision of processing.

Traceability & Transparency

Each bottle features a QR code providing access to harvest data, laboratory analysis, certifications, awards, and food pairing suggestions.

Visits to the producer can also be arranged — offering a rare opportunity to experience the origin firsthand.

Presentation

  • White non-transparent glass bottle, 16.9 fl oz (500 ml)

  • Protective cardboard tube designed to shield the oil from light and preserve quality

Best Before

  • 2025 harvest: July 15, 2027

EU Health Claim

Olive oil polyphenols contribute to the protection of blood lipids from oxidative stress. The beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 20 g of olive oil containing at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 g of olive oil.
